BATTLEFIED 3 M16A3

VIDEOS FEATURING THE BF3 M16A3

THE LORE BEHIND THE BUILD

My beloved “M16A3” clone from Battlefield 3. This gun was the first game clone I did and I think it came out pretty well. If you aren’t familiar with Battlefield 3, it’s a game from 2011 that takes place in 2014 about the US and Russia on the brink of WW3 and there’s a missing nuke and Iranians blah blah blah. The campaign had some iconic moments but the game really shined with its multiplayer.

The multiplayer featured maps taking place near Russia and Iran mostly but also included Paris (as it’s important in the campaign)

The M16A3 was the starting weapon for the U.S. Marines and could only be used on the Russian side after you fully leveled the Assault class. It featured a very fast reload and ROF, making it a top contender for best gun in the game.

The gun has a unique paint job and cloth wrap around the stock. I’ve thrown a trijicon RX06 and Pentagon light on the rifle to give it that BF3 aesthetic. The red dot is a discontinued trijicon Product that they may not even service anymore. It’s powered by tritium and the fiber optic on the front face. It contains the 6.5 MOA amber triangle. The one in game had the normal red dot. (Amber triangle was in BF: Hardline)

The light is a Pentagon light UX-2. I chose this light because I saw someone clone Blackburns rifle from an early “Faultline” trailer. https://www.reddit.com/r/MilitaryARClones/s/OMOwWLj6z5

I found that post while trying to identify the goofy looking lights from the game and discovered they were Pentagon lights. Apparently the company went under after Surefire sued them for stealing tailcap designs. I also threw on a Hammy3DPrints light cover.
There has been much debate on if the rifle is an M16A3 or A4. The Navy did use M16A3’s in both the fixed carry handle and flat top configurations. The official designation calls for a fixed carry handle but speaking to sailors who’ve used the gun, they confirmed flat tops did exist. Although, the placement of these rifles in the hands of Marines in 2014 is certainly out of place.

I love this gun because it reminds me of my childhood and of one of my favorite games of all time. (My favorite Battlefield for sure)
Now that the servers are gone forever, I will have something to remember from my time playing Operation Metro with my brother in our youth.
